Authors: Roy Meijer, Timur Naushirvanov, Ziyue Zhu, Yijie Zhou, Yueyang Yi
Highlights:

Estimates show post-landfall declines and a gradual return of population presence.
Socioeconomic heterogeneity: richer areas show steeper declines and slower rebounds.
Community detection analysis indicates that relocations are mainly intra-community.
Findings show the need for equity-informed planning and the use of mobile phone data.
Conferences
ISF 2026
The International Symposium on Forecasting (ISF) is the premier forecasting conference, attracting the world’s leading forecasting researchers, practitioners, and students. Through a combination of keynote speaker presentations, academic sessions, workshops, and social programs, the ISF provides many excellent opportunities for networking, learning, and fun.
The 46th International Symposium on Forecasting will take place June 28 – July 1, 2026 in Montreal, Canada.
During the conference, I participated in two workshops: (1) “Forecasting with Temporal Hierarchies” and (2) “How to make sure that your forecasts make sense? Workshop on forecast evaluation”.
Furthermore, I contributed to the conference by presenting an ongoing project titled: “Improving occupational expansion demand forecasts by using higher-frequency data”.
